CAUSES OF AN EARTHQUAKE

• Caused when rock underground suddenly brakes along a fault

• When 2 blocks of rocks or 2 plates are rubbing against each other

• This can also be caused by explosions underground

What caused the 2013 Bohol earthquake?

The East Bohol Fault which is a reverse fault that crosses southern Bohol Island; help relieve some pressure on the Philippines. The islands are crumpling between three crashing tectonic plates: the Philippine, Sunda and Eurasia plates.
